Aigion Capitol Main Heavy Tank:
Overview:
The Aigion is a recent design by Capitol in response to the demands of the 2nd Ancerious war. While discovering the Hyperion was a fantastic MBT for engaging enemy armour at range they found the Hyperion was not so good at close range line breaking, and while the Thanatos could be used for the job it was too cumbersome and was better suited to support fire roles. The Aigion was developed to be the best of both worlds, with a very powerful scram cannon it too has a secondary railgun, based off Union designs stolen from both Alpha Ceti and Yulunarch the Aigion can now engage enemies at long range and provide excellent fire-power at short ranges, while being able to withstand heavy fire in return. Typically a Aigion or two will be attached to a Hyperion company for extra fire-power.
Capabilities:
Armament wise the Aigion is armed with a 180mm Scram Cannon, a gun which fires scram jet assisted shells at Mach velocities and doesn’t loose punch at extreme range. In fact the further the target the harder hitting the shot, with the gun being ineffective at close range. This gun only fires AP shells which use on board computers and flight stabilising to correct the shots, after most battles the barrels have to be replaced after the wear and tear of the scram jet launches, for ammo stocks the Aigion carries 35 rounds. As a secondary weapon the tank mounts a 80mm Railgun based off Union designs. This weapon is designed to be able to destroy enemies at medium to close ranges and give the Aigion all range battle capability. It carries 60 rounds. In addition a 20mm remote automated turret is installed for anti infantry defence and a cupola mounted heavy machine gun for the commander to also use.
Defensive measures and armour wise the Aigion is very well armoured with an effective armour thickness of around a 3 meters especially on the front the amour plates made of Azanium have the capacity to stop both kinetic and energy blasts. However additional plates can be added, however the Aigion doesn't possess any ADS apart from very basic one use frag launchers.
Electronic abilities wise the Aigion is equipped with an advanced by Capitol standards electronic system able to interact with other vehicles and command, as well as give complete awareness to the crew and operate the frag launchers and automated machine gun as well as help aim the Scram Cannon.
Speed wise The Aigion is reasonable in its speed able to muster 29mph with around 35 off road. Fully able to spearhead and armoured advance with plenty of room for infantry to ride on top.
Variants:
Heavy armour package Variant: When even more armour is required especially in urban enviroments more additional plates and reactive armour can be added, as well as slat armour. Another 20mm cannon can also be used in replacing the commanders cupola.
Heavy laser projector Varaint: Still experimenting with laser weapons this variant replaces its 180mm scram cannon for a Triarch assisted built Photon lance, capable of spearing medium armoured vehicles with ease or even defracting to engage multiple light units or infantry. And even can be used with the addition of computer upgrades aided by the EPA to be useful as a very good wide area ADS defence unit.
Fortification Buster Variant: A technical complete redesign moving the frontal hull further back and adding around another meter thick in armour protection to make it all but invulnerable from the front even to very heavy weapon the bunker buster is equipped with a 390mm Rocket assisted mortar. This mortar fires atomic shells, each with around a KT each, range of around 5 miles. The shells detonate and practically destroy or vaporise anything in the target area or crushed from the overpressure. This tank only carries 7 such shells, 6 in its hull and one already pre loaded into the gun.
Super heavy tank destroyer Variant: Based on the fortification buster, the tank destroyer is designed to be able to take hits from either artillery or super heavy weaponry, albeit for one or two salvos. Replacing the atomic mortar for a long barrelled 165mm Scram cannon this gun has an incredibly long range, using like other scram cannons a fin stabilised correction system the shells themselves carry within them a Fusion warhead. Capable of a 10KT explosion, able to destroy super heavy tanks or severely damage them at least, even damaging shielded targets or completely wiping out sections of the battlefield. This variant however is incredibly slow and rarely seen and is often used primarily in defence.
