Minotaur Capitol Heavy MBT:

Overview:

The Empire of Capitol has always been behind most main factions on designs and their Minotaur MBT is no exception. Very poorly build this tank is usually deployed in large numbers, its only redeeming features being its rediculous armour and 180mm rail assisted cannon. Designed during the Draken wars this tank had to contend with Draken swarms and also try to match up to the Unions Seraphim MBT. While being hopelessly outmatched by the Seraphim this tank did well vs the Draken and while its huge size means its an easy target it does well to rally the troops around it and act as a mobile fortress to support Capitols mass infantry assaults. Rumour has it Capitols redesigning an MBT as well as their entire ground arsenal... But this has yet to be confirmed.

Capabilities:

Armament wise the Minotaur is armed with a 180mm Rail assisted cannon capable of firing AP, HE and even small nuclear munitions. It has 20 AP 10 HE and 5 Nuclear munitions in its ammo racks and typically has to be restocked in the heat of battle. Alongside this the tank also has 1 hull mounted heavy MG as well as 2 Co- ax and one top turret mounted 360 degree mount. An additional cupola mount can be added too. Altogether these guns have around 600 rounds each and provide excellent anti infantry firepower to the slow moving vehicle.

Defensive measures and armour wise The Minotaur mounts a solid 900mm of plate and cermaic armour with reactive armour mounted on some areas for extra defense. The top turret mounted Heavy MG is also capable of limited CIWS interception against ATGMs and other missiles.

Electronic abilities wise the Minotaur carries basic targetting and battlefield computers, able to help the crew aim and engage enemies. It also has a sensor suite to help it target in harsh enviroments and identify enemy units.


Speed wise the Minotaur is incredibly slow only mustering around 31kph off road and around 40kph on road it has trouble with steep inclines due to its large bulk and even gets bogged down or trapped in tight urban enviroments.

Variants:

SPAAG: Armed with 12 Heavy MGs rather than a 180mm cannon this variant puts out clouds of flak for low flying gunships and can shred infantry and very light vehicles. however it does run out of ammunition very easily and the guns after a few seconds fire can overheat and ruin the barrels requiring constant replacements, as well it lacks any AT ability and so will be slaughtered by armour.

Zeus Missile Variant: Armed with a total of 18 radar Zeus missiles this variant provides air defense vs aircraft. The missiles themselves have close proximity fuses and powerful warheads despite their small appearance, however the lock on system is easily overidden with ECM and so the missiles can be outsmarted usually.

Tachyon Cannon Variant: The scariest variant of the Minotaur, the Union has placed this on its top to kill list. While still highly experimental the Tachyon cannon has been taken from Capitols starships, miniturised and put on a tank. Able to instantly destroy pretty much most armoured vehicles including heavy tanks on the ground as well as everything in a straight line this tank is highly dangerous. However it is hugely prone to gun failure, leading to spectacular detonations as the containment fails. As the units for the tank are exposed this variant is long ranged and not risked in the frontline.

AVRE Variant: replacing the 180mm cannon with a 600mm Rocket assisted mortar this variant merely demolishes buildings or fortifications in a single blast. Flattening infantry and light vehicles it is very short ranged and typically only used in urban enviroments.

Flamethrower variant: This variant can either fire gouts of a viscous jelly which ignites on contact with air or a chemical mixture causing horrific dissolving of flesh or metals. Either way this variant is used in large assaults and typically high on the kill lists. While very easily to destroy due to its glaring weakness if it gets close casulties will soon follow.

Repair and recovery variant: Non combat variant which helps recover wrecks from the battlefield, both freindly and enemy. Armed lightly for self defense this variant has a large crane with which to tow the enemy wrecks with.
