Dart Class Union of Worlds Cruiser:
Overview: The most seen ship in the entire Union of Worlds the Dart class is the most widely used and has protected the Union since its birth in the tumulus time of the Unification wars. The Dart has served in all conflicts and its design has been revised 7 times over the time since its commission. These revised designs have in a sense been the creation of a whole new ship though the shape and structure never change the Dart is nothing like it used to be. Technology wise the Dart is impressive, boasting brilliant weapons, sensors, shields, computers and engines. The best part of the Dart is its versatility and it can be used in ALL roles in space combat thanks to its amazing ability of interchangeable parts. Swapping Mass Drivers for bombardment cannons or swapping its launch bays for troop transports, it can all be done. The Dart as well should not be underestimated, though the most common Union ship the Dart packs a massive punch at all ranges and has capabilities of any other craft. it is believed the Dart will never be retired as it is a symbol of endurance as much as a ship and so the people of the Union will rally and be proud whenever the distinctive arrow shape of the Dart appears overhead.
Armament: The Dart class mounts a ferocious armament designed for all ranges and so is a very powerful foe to contend with, the latest Mark 7 Peacekeeper class is designed to take on any threat and has emerged from the Draken war with a wealth of upgrades. Mounting 232 Mass Driver cannons all in dual retractable turret mountings over the ship this packs a fearsome punch at all ranges, supplanting this is also 6 Meson Laser projectors 20 Dorsal Plasma cannons and 8 Phase Missile launchers. The Dart also mounts a Graviton Pulsar.

Graviton Pulsar: using an artificial singularity generator this weapon requires massive power so is only used once per battle at extreme ranges. It is a guaranteed one shot kill weapon against a ship or group of ships. Firing a singularity down a containment beam the beam is then turned off. As the singularity is free it cloaks itself instant with an event horizon creating a small and temporary black hole which will destroy the target and pull in any close by.

The Dart class also mounts a SENTINEL CIWS mounted all over the ship. This system is made up from numerous point defences consisting of small laser projectors, cascade cannons and miniature missile launchers. Together these destroy incoming missiles and fighters, on their own SENTINEL is incredibly effective with most enemies attack the Dart at range rather than risking their attack craft on suicidal missions. But when the Mass Drivers also switch to flak the Dart is all but invincible to attack craft.
Power plant: The Dart uses two TPC Zero Point Module AX-5 units to provide overall power, these have been reverse engineered from Nakai technology and make use of their artificial pocket dimension technology. The ZPM works by making an artificial dimension and harvesting the natural vacuum energy produced in such, this is totally harmless as if the ZPM is destroyed the dimension collapses harmlessly. The energy produced is also way above other Union energy technology apart from Singularity generators which are still being understood. The Dart also mounts 2 secondary YX2 Fusion Generators as redundant in case of emergencies where the ZPM modules are taken offline, these generators while nowhere near as powerful as the ZPM modules can still power the ship although at a reduced capability.
Electronic capabilities: The Dart is run by 3 Mark 5 AI systems one for targeting and combat, one for background systems and one for overall control. These AI systems are semi sentient and can hack enemy ships. When a AI gets hacked it immediately either cuts the lines so the enemy cannot access or deletes itself and the intruder with it. The Dart is also linked to the Union computer and so can access data when needed; it also is linked to the rest of the fleet in a tight information grid.
Stealth wise the Dart constantly runs a very basic sensor stealth field, this field while not effecting light effects spectrum scans and conventional sensors. While not totally making the ship invisible this obscures the Darts form and position leading to an increased ratio of missed shots and wrong moves. A full Displacement unit can be installed for true stealth missions if needed.
Crew: The Dart carries 1250 personnel to run the ship and man the fighters. It also has the capability to carry up to 500 Union marines plus equipment and if fitted correctly can carry over 1500 men with 250 vehicles though weapon systems and such are reduced.
Attack craft: The Dart mounts 6 launch hangars each able to contain 10 Firestorm Fighters and 2 Eagle Eye bombers for a total of 60 fighters and 12 bombers. These have their own repair and re arm facilities and so the Dart acts as a brilliant fighter base for planeside operations or deep space patrols.
Speed and engines: The Dart is very fast able to reach 0.7 light speed on sub light engines and also mounts a Union slipstream drive for FTL capability. Current research and development is underway so the Dart can be fitted with Nakai jump technology.
