It was then Ali saw them.

They were huge, yet incredibly graceful. Standing much taller than a man the elegant forms of the Nakai drones strode without fear into the street, they were glimmering white with glowing golden and light blue forms, their outstretched wings denoted them as creations of light, made to serve their masters. But for darker purposes. Each one of them held a large staff with a 3 pronged end, which glowed blue but seemed to glow other colours which Ali couldn’t recognise and it hurt her eyes trying to make them out. There were only 3 of them. Against what? Around 50 men and women? Each one seemed blank but radiant, and it was then she knew with horror that there was only one way this would end.

The squads of soldiers opened fire, bright flares filled the street as plasma rounds lasers and bullets lit the 3 Angelic beings up. Heavier weapons were fired as the loud tearing of cascade cannons started and bright large beams from Laser projectors began their assault. The noise was deafening as Ali and Sarah collapsed to the floor with the sound of the barrage. The end of the street was turned into a billow of smoke and flames as the squad ceased fire they looked on. As one the 3 beings strode out of the smoke, untouched and glowing more than before. Together they lowered their pole-arms and opened fire.

Hellish light filled the street as colours unable to be seen by the human eyes were produced by the tears in real space. The Chronoscepters the Nakai drones wielded ignored all forms of armour and cover and merely deleted the matter they touched. Men and women died screaming as they were torn apart into another dimension. The soldiers remaining fired back again in defiance as the drones merely slowly advanced down the street, the fire bouncing off their elegant forms with little effect. It was then the sound of jet engines filled the air and Ali and Sarah screamed as the street end exploded. Missiles rained down as Firestorm fighters roared overhead.

As the smoke cleared one of the Nakai drones had miraculously been destroyed by the relentless anti tank missiles, the other two drones seemingly enraged by their comrades death opened fire again, cutting down the remaining soldiers and one even shot a Firestorm out of the sky, its form coming apart from the horrifying weapon. It was then Ali shook Sarah.

“We have to get out of here!” She screamed, Sarah wasn’t responsive, her hollow eyes were deep in shock. Ali shouted at her again and again, she gave up and began to drag her friend away down one of the side alleys, taking shelter behind a coolant unit, she became deathly silent as the Nakai drones quietly walked past, the thrumming of their ungodly weapons filling the air when they opened fire.

Sarah was gone, she wasn’t in this reality any more. Her mind was clearly so deeply in shock she wasn’t with Ali any more, she sat there, limp and slightly smiling, staring off into a dream world. Ali broke down, crying as she tried to bring her friend back. She sat there hugging Sarah, stroking her hair and trying to coax her back to reality. In the end she knew she must go on, mustering her strength she picked Sarah up, carrying her over Alis back she walked slowly onwards, cautious of each street. Signs of conflict were everywhere, wrecked Seraphim MBTs and half distorted men and women lay everywhere. She tried to ignore it and keep going. It was slowly turning night, the sky darkening but staying bright due to raging fires and the sound of gunfire punctuated the dusk. It was colder and Ali knew she couldn’t keep going forever. Sarah was getting heavier by the minute and she was tired, hungry and thirsty. She was going to die here.
