Tartarus Capitol Bombardment Cannon MK.2:
Overview: The Tartarus MK.2 is still very much like its old class, designed to pummel large ships, orbital installations or planets into dust the Tartarus is built around a newly designed Mass Driver, taken from the Union of Worlds this massive weapon is capable of launching escort sized shells at near lightspeed however it can fire a variety of shells due to captured Nano assembler units, still not fully known how to be built fully these units operate far slower than their Union counter parts and require more energy still leaving the Tartarus with a very long reload time. Either way this vessel typically sits back to give fire support.
Armament: The Tartarus mounts its ship lined Tartarus cannon as well as 8 Dual heavy railguns for self defence and 22 light railguns for extra firepower should it find itself under attack.
Railguns: taken from Union specifications while not as advanced as the Unions Mass Drivers Capitols new railgun technology is vastly superior to their old rocket propelled cannons. Now they can engage enemies at speed and while still not dealing massive amounts of damage per shot Capitol have managed to increase their ROF to around 450 shots per minute. This results in the rails being changed after every engagement but also a serious boost in firepower.
Tartarus cannon: Using Union Mass driver tech the Tartarus cannon can fire one of 3 shells toward an enemy position, with a 5 minute reload time in combat though they typically operate in batteries.
Kinetic impact shell: Literally a mass of dense metals fired at sublight speeds at the target, the sheer size and speed converts into untold energy and often smashes the enemy apart, this shell type is used for large dreadnoughts, light orbital installations and small cities.
Fusion shell: Harder to construct this shell contains an unstable atomic core. Impacting with not only speed and mass, but also crushing the core to critical mass, causing a fusion explosion in the Hundreds of GT range, this shell is used to crack large installations or lay waste to large areas of a planets surface.
Cluster fragmentation shell: Almost likened to a shotgun in space these shells disintegrate at speed, turning into millions of pieces of material, able to hit groups of ships through sheer weight of shrapnel this gives the Tartarus a method of engaging enemy ship formations at range.
Defences: The Hydra mounts around 4ft of Azanium armour plating. This new type of armour was developed with the help of Triarch Industries and is now able to take much more damage from both kinetic and energy weapons than the previous armour. The Hydra as well is protected by a medium shield generator capable to taking many direct hits before it needs to recharge again. Capitols new shield technology allows them to partially absorb around 11% of an enemy energy weapon shot and use it to charge the ships Tachyon Arrows if it has any.
Power plant: The Tartarus runs on 3 Cold Nuclear Fusion reactors for energy, these systems were reverse engineered at a remote location using Union schematics however, they were produced before Inaras rise to power but due to the actions of Sabre team the project was massively set back when the base was destroyed. However with these new reactors the ships can have more space for ammunition, rather than 8 reactors the Tartarus now only has 3.
Electronic capabilities: The Tartarus is run by a (still basic by most races standards) semi advanced reactive system. This system can aid targeted, calculate anything that is needed and also provide limited control over the ships actions. The system can also be slaved to the will of the captain to prevent mutiny or boarding however the ships actions under the computers control are severely limited.
Crew: The Tartarus has a crew of 4000 men. All of which are human. Around 100 are commissars.
Attack craft: the Tartarus mounts no hangar bays. Only minor bays for shuttle craft.
Speed and engines: the Tartarus is equipped with a Gravitic Drive and can reach speeds of up to 0.6 Light speed capable of keeping up with the rear-guard elements of the Capitol fleet for fire support.
