Union Aerial Interception/Air superiority Wing:
The Union deploys Aerial Interception wings or Air superiority Wings as sometimes they are called when air dominance is required over a battle zone. These Air wings are sent in to screen ground forces from other aircraft, protect Eagle Eye bomber wings on the way to a target or destroy other fighter or interceptor aircraft on a target world. Though all of the craft here can go into space (Apart from the Archer) the Union air forces function differently in space and so here they are controlled by a Fighter Ace who while in combat can keep the situation appraised. It is here the Union gets it rapid air dominance from.
Fighter ace/Wing commander: The controller of the Aerial interception wing. This pilot has years of experience under his wing and can perform death defying feats of combat manuvre or endurance with his humble Firestorm. If this wasn't impressive enough he can also command the rest of the wing while doing it.
Stealth Interception detachment: Not always equipped to a wing these craft let the rest of the wing engage the enemy and hang back or above the fight using their incredibly powerful stealth fields to mask them. When the time is right they then strike, destroying enemy craft or helping a comrade in danger, the enemy has no idea what happened and they then go back to their passive watching. These pilots are known to be very reserved and not often talk much, generally considered a weird bunch.
Heavy Target Destroyer Detachment: These usually comprise of Skia Shurikens, and again don't always accompany the Wing. When they do the enemy must beware for Shurikens are some of the most deadly attack craft ever made. Able to rip other aircraft apart in short order and perform impossible manuvre they were the only craft able to match the legendary Draken shrikes. This detachment can also consist of Phantom Scythes or Nakai Ar'eth Interceptors.
Heavy Support Gunship: A single Archer flak gunship may be added to the wing in order to give it a massive firepower boost. The gunship is able to destroy enemy craft, Absorb fire and provide a distraction as well as a mobile fast firebase. Faster and easier to handle than most would think the Archer can dog fight just like a fighter and so will turn the tide of any force.
Aerial Interception Squadron: Consisting of a squadron leader and 9 Firestorm fighters these are Mark 5 fighters and all equipped with aerial dominance weaponry. Almost completely exchanging their ground attack weapons with Air to Air ones these carry Spectre missiles and 80mm AP rounds in their cascade cannons. Altogether these squadrons destroy enemy air power and allow the Union to gain total air supremacy. It is here the Firestorm can come into its own, for it excels at Air to Air combat just as well as ground attack.
