Union Department for Health and Welfare:

Another one of the large departments in the Union of Worlds. Tasking with the complete overview, development and implementation of the Unions medical abilities as well as providing welfare and care to those who need it this department contains the Unions doctors and other medical practitioners as well as carers and social workers. Working alongside the education and research and development departments the Health and Welfare section works alongside the military as well to provide medical aid. It also has strong ties to the Interstellar Development Department to help provide medical aid and welfare to other empires or those affected by war as acts of kindness. Overall the work of this department is seen as a very important part of the Unions works by all the other departments.

Sub Departments: 

Emergency Services: This sub-branch of the Health and Welfare Department runs the emergency services the Union provides. The Fire protection core specialise in saving property from damage or freak events for the various people of the Union. The Emergency Medical core also provide ambulance and rapid medical responses for those who get injured or suffer and need to be quickly treated or taken to a medical facility. Alongside this the Search and Rescue core also provides the Union with its principle space rescue force, tasking with going out to track down lost ships or to help in incidents which happen both in space and in remote locations on planets. This core works closely with the other two to help keep the domestic and civilians safe.

Space Welfare Department: Specialising in the welfare of the Union this department helps those who have disabilities, or require additional help in certain areas which gene correction or medical treatment could not overcome. Whether this be in the form of extra money, resources, better accommodation or equipment the welfare core also work with the Childcare section to help re-home children or minors who are at risk, as well as provide social workers who go to see individuals who have mental disabilities who could not be cured by mind meld procedures. The Welfare Department also helps provide and procure aid in many forms for foreign operations and works with the Interstellar Development Department to safely deliver or deploy these aids to war zones, or empires In need.

Healthcare Department: This department provides the medical practices and expertise required for the Union of Worlds. They run medical centres, train doctors, medical practitioners of all kinds and provide most of the departments including the military with medical professionals. This department deals with both mundane medical issues at local medical centres all the way up to life threatening procedures at major medical installations. This Department also works with the Research and Development Department to constantly try to advance medical practices or medicines in general and breakthroughs are quickly implemented after trials.
